For four decades, the Edna W. Runner Education Center has been a cornerstone of hope, learning and opportunity for children and families in the West Jupiter community. As the organization celebrates its 40th anniversary, it also celebrates thousands of success stories built on a simple but powerful mission:
Providing young people with a safe, nurturing environment where they can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Since opening its doors in 1986, the Center has grown from serving a small group of students into an award-winning organization that now offers high-quality afterschool, summer and family programs designed to help children reach their fullest potential.

The Edna W. Runner Education Center is launching a new elementary school opening in August 2026, beginning with kindergarten - 1st grade. The program was created to provide students with personalized attention, strong academic foundations, and a supportive learning environment while working alongside families.
A key part of that continued success is the Center's commitment to quality. As a participant in Prime Time Palm Beach County's Quality Improvement System (QIS), the Edna W. Runner Education Center actively engages in ongoing professional development, coaching, assessment and continuous improvement. The QIS helps afterschool providers strengthen programming through evidence-based quality standards, ensuring that children receive enriching experiences that foster learning, leadership and personal growth. By participating in this system, the Center demonstrates its dedication to delivering exceptional opportunities for every child it serves.
Quality afterschool programming is about much more than homework help. At the Edna W. Runner Education Center, youth participate in academic enrichment, STEAM learning, character development, mentoring, recreation and well-being and life skills in an environment where they feel valued and supported. The Center's accredited afterschool program provides a safe place for children to build confidence, develop meaningful relationships and discover new interests while giving working families peace of mind.

The organization has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of the community. Recent expansions have added innovative learning spaces, including science and technology classrooms, music instruction, outdoor learning environments and enhanced recreational facilities. In 2024, the organization became the Edna W. Runner Education Center, reflecting its expanded educational mission and commitment to preparing students for success through STEAM education, trade exploration and whole-child development.
As the Center marks this remarkable 40-year milestone, it stands as a testament to the power of community partnerships, dedicated educators, committed volunteers and visionary leadership. The anniversary is not only a celebration of the past but also an exciting look toward the future as the organization continues expanding opportunities for local children and families.

Prime Time Palm Beach County is proud to recognize partners like the Edna W. Runner Education Center that are committed to continuous improvement and excellence in afterschool programming. Together, we are helping create engaging, high-quality learning environments where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Congratulations to the Edna W. Runner Education Center on 40 years of transforming lives, strengthening families and building a brighter future for Palm Beach County.
