Adult SEL Blended Series: Tuning in for Self-Care and Empathy (OST)

Live and Self-paced Modules (see schedule below)

Prerequisites: Afterschool professionals from a PSELI pilot school, Prime Time Registry ID. Live Session Time: 4 hours total; Self-Paced Session Time: 8 hours total; Session Materials: None

The Adult SEL Series is an eight-part blended online professional learning offering designed to deepen intra- and inter-personal adult SEL guide professionals through a process of self-discovery and personal growth while instilling the importance of habitual daily self-care and mindfulness practice. Scientific studies show that the only way to build long term brain fitness, emotional balance and resilience in the face of crisis and chaos is through daily practice of mindful awareness and other positive psychology tools. In each session, participants share their experiences from applying the different tools, and incrementally build a daily self-care practice plan that is customized to their needs based on their own reflective practice. Ultimately, the goal of empowering resilient and compassionate adults is to create a climate and culture whereby youth thrive socially and emotionally, are able to apply SEL tools to be resilient in daily life and in crisis, succeed in academic and extracurricular endeavors, and can build positive and empathetic relationships.

Series Training Objectives: Participants will:

1. Learn and practice daily experiential and interactive self-care tools to build resilience and balance

2. Apply mindfulness practice tools to proactively respond difficult situations

3. Explore practices that foster interpersonal connection, empathy and compassion

4. Make connections between neuroscience, stress response and experiential practice

5. Experiment with various reflective practice tools to cultivate self-inquiry

6. Create an evolving plan for daily practice
