To Make SEL Stick, Align School and Out-of-school Time

Prime Time Palm Beach County recently featured in The Learning Professional article entitled To Make SEL Stick, Align School and Out-of-School Time, covers why SEL partnerships matter, a focus on adult SEL, SEL signature practices, collaboration as a priority and how to create a seamless approach for students.

Prime Time’s Director of Professional Development Katherine Gopie provides insight and learned experiences from Palm Beach County’s Partnerships for Social and Emotional Learning Initiative (PSELI), a national effort to help children in six communities gain greater opportunities for social and emotional learning and to understand how schools and out-of-school-time providers can work together to align and improve those opportunities.

”Adults have to first understand what SEL is, then they have to embody it, then they can model it.”

— Katherine Gopie

“SEL has always been a focal point for us in the OST space,” says Prime Time’s Gopie, because it “dovetails with positive youth development practice, which is the grounding for much of our work.”
