Loxahatchee Groves Elementary Afterschool Program Performs Concert for Families and Friends
The Lions' Pride Strummers Ukulele Band at Loxahatchee Groves Elementary School presented three concerts as part of an afterschool offering with Prime Time expanded learning opportunity provider the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches. During the week of November 14, 2022, students, staff, families and friends watched the band of 28 children and youth perform songs and play instruments. The show started with a song from the USA, and then took the audience on a musical journey spanning eight different countries. The students ended the program back in America with a version of "We Will Rock You," rewritten by their teacher Ms. Amy Joy, about learning the ukulele.
The Prime Time Young Singers Choirs provides children and youth in afterschool an opportunity to explore various aspects of musicianship, world cultures, emotions, linguistics and teamwork. Each expanded learning opportunity includes activities that develop a natural singing body alignment, freedom of breath, development of intonation, ease of personal vocal freedom using music from various periods and genres.
Prime Time strives to provide children and youth with a wide range of hands-on learning experiences. In partnership with local content expert organizations, Prime Time makes available expanded learning opportunities (ELOs) to eligible afterschool and summer programs. The expanded leanring opportunities are offered at no cost to the program or family, thanks to the Children Services Council of Palm Beach County. In 2020-2021, Prime Time offered 136,829 learning experiences that impacted 50,001 youth between October 2020 and September 2021.
