Youth in Local Afterschool Programs Prove that Talent has No Age Limit

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Geniusville Academy and Epic Kids Learning Afterschool Programs put on a show that left the audience in awe when youth performed some of the most popular and beloved Grammy Award-winning songs, showcasing their talent and creativity.

The show kicked off with a stunning performance of “Rhythm of the Night” by  R&B group DeBarge. The energy in the room was exhilarating, as the young performers sang, and danced to the music. The youth in the programs have been rehearsing for weeks during their time in afterschool with the guidance of the Theater Outreach teacher Deshon Allen.

Our main goal is for the students to learn to appreciate theater in any form. We along with the students selected Grammy winning artist or songs that they could perform live.  My favorite part was having them select a Grammy outfit of their choice to walk the red carpet at the opening of the show to the song Rhythm of the night by El Debarge. - Deshon Allen, Theater Outreach Teacher

Overall, the Grammy Night hosted by Lake Worth Playhouse was a huge success, and a testimony to the power of music and how it brings people together and can inspire creativity. The youth at Geniusville Academy and Epic Kids Learning showed that when it comes to talent, age is just a number.
