The Lights on Afterschool celebration hosted By Prime Time Palm Beach County on Thursday, October 24, 2024, is a part of nationwide event that will take place downtown West Palm Beach to call attention to the importance of high quality afterschool programs. This event is just one of some 8,000 other events being held across the country that focus on the importance of high quality afterschool programs. This year, Lights On Afterschool, organized by the Afterschool Alliance, is highlighting the vital work that afterschool programs do to support children and families.

In the United States today, for every child in an afterschool program, four more are waiting to get in. Prime Time will call for expanding afterschool opportunities so every child who needs a program has access to one and discuss the benefits of afterschool programs, which include keeping children and youth safe, inspiring them to learn, and giving working parents/guardians a peace of mind that their child is supervised after the school day ends in a high quality environment.  Families who attend on Thursday, October 24, 2024, will have access to many free and fun educational activities that include hands-on science activities, hayrides, ghoulish games, safe trick-or-treating, face painting, the Florida Panthers Street Team and much more!
