Build-A-Bot Encourages Teamwork with Youth in Afterschool

Everglades Elementary Afterschool Program brought hands-on STEAM activities to the children in attendance by calling on Nexplore , a Prime Time expanded learning opportunity provider. Each child had the opportunity to learn how to build a propeller powered race cart.

Everglades Elementary Afterschool Program brought hands-on STEAM activities to the children in attendance by calling on Nexplore , a Prime Time expanded learning opportunity provider. Each child had the opportunity to learn how to build a propeller powered race cart. As youth worked through successfully building and powering up their carts, they found themselves assisting others by offering lessons learned and a helping hand.

Nexplore offers STEAM opportunities: Lego Robotics, Build-A-Bot, Etiquette, Art in a Box and more. Prime Time strives to provided youth in grades 3-8 with a wide range of hands-on learning experiences. In partnership with local content expert organizations.

STEAM-based learning gives students tools and methods to explore new and creative ways of problem-solving, displaying data, innovating while linking multiple fields.

Prime Time offers a number of STEAM training opportunities for afterschool practitioners, children, youth and families. Starting February 3, 2023, Prime Time's STEAM training series will be springing forward as  participants will learn and practice engaging activities that explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering, arts and math. This series will boost practitioners’ confidence in science  knowledge,  demonstrates activities that  link youth development strategies and intentional STEAM learning opportunities and guides  participants  in implementing STEAM in  their  program that is easy and effective. All participants receive trainer observations and coaching, feedback sessions, CEUs, up to $180 in stipends and more.
